Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) with Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR)

A Positive Step Forward

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between CASARA Ontario and the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) took place is Sault Ste Marie 5 Feb 2010. The signing of this historic event will increase CASARA Ontario's response capability, particularly along the North shore of Lake Superior as well as other Northern communities.

The signing of this document will allow CASARA Ontario Navigators and Spotters to be trained on board MNR piloted aircraft. The ultimate goal is to achieve an operational capability that will enable MNR/CASARA crews to be tasked by Joint Rescue Coordination Centres) JRCC's on search and rescue (SAR) actual missions. This process will begin with a Proof of Concept weekend workshop with MNR and CASARA crews, scheduled to take place in Sault Ste Marie in Spring 2010.
